COLUMBIA, MD – July 2024 – Certis Biologicals, a leader in the manufacturing and distribution of biological solutions for commercial agriculture, proudly announces the addition of two new regional sales managers to its team: McKenna Mathis Beal for the Pacific Northwest (PNW) and Tommy Van Groningen for Northern California/Nevada.
McKenna Mathis Beal- Pacific Northwest
McKenna will join the team as the Regional Sales Manager, based out of Pasco, WA, working closely with Richard Kelly, Regional Manager, and Scott Ockey, Field Development Manager. McKenna was raised in Mesa, WA, on an apple orchard which has become the backbone of her agricultural knowledge. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Western Washington University, where she also played collegiate-level softball. Following graduation, McKenna worked as a Child Care Counselor at a children’s psychiatric hospital for two years. However, her passion for agriculture led her back to her family farm and into the ag industry, where she excelled as the PNW Sales Executive with AgBiome, successfully launching two new products, Howler and Theia fungicides.
In her new role at Certis Biologicals, McKenna will leverage her extensive agricultural background and sales expertise to support and expand the company's presence in the PNW region. Her appointment underscores Certis Biologicals' commitment to providing top-tier service and solutions to growers in the area.
“McKenna’s deep roots in agriculture and her proven track record in sales make her a valuable addition to our team,” said Chris Judd, VP of North America Sales & Marketing at Certis Biologicals. “We are confident that her experience and dedication will help us continue to meet the needs of our customers and drive growth in the PNW region.”
Outside of her professional life, McKenna enjoys snowboarding, reading, baking, and spending time with her family.
Tommy Van Groningen - Northern California/Nevada
Tommy Van Groningen joined the Certis California Sales Team earlier this year as the Regional Sales Manager for Northern California/Nevada, based out of Ripon, CA. Tommy attended Modesto Junior College before earning his B.S. in Crop Production Management from Fresno State, a degree that later led to obtaining his PCA (Pest Control Advisor) and CCA (Certified Crop Advisor) licenses.
Tommy spent several years on the retail side of ag before returning to work on his cousins’ 4,000-acre row crop and almond farm, where he had worked throughout college. He started as the junior PCA and eventually became the head PCA, overseeing crops such as alfalfa, sweet corn, pumpkins, and other cucurbits. In 2018, Tommy transitioned to head agronomist, overseeing the fertility and irrigation of various crops, including watermelons, silage corn, and almonds. His contributions led to setting yield records for the company within a few years.
At Certis, Tommy's initial focus will be on networking and learning as much as possible about Certis products from his counterparts and from PCAs and growers in his territory. He will be a valuable asset for PCAs and growers, supporting their needs and helping them utilize products effectively. Tommy is particularly excited about Howler EVO, Sil-Matrix, Oso 5%, and Lifegard.
“My goal is to be a helpful presence for PCAs and growers alike,” Tommy said. “I want them to know that I am here to find answers and be an asset for any issues they may have.”
Tommy's hobbies include traveling, golfing, fishing, duck hunting, coaching boxing, and practicing jiu-jitsu.
“Tommy’s extensive hands-on experience and commitment to learning and helping others make him an excellent addition to our team,” said Curt Nelson, Western Division Sales Manager. “We are excited to see him grow and contribute to the success of our customers in Northern California and Nevada.”
